Where will I be living and do I have to find my own accommodation?
We recommend you look at the websites listed below to find suitable accommodation. We want you to live in ethnically diverse areas, in which we are focusing our long-term work. It is your responsibility to organise your own living arrangements prior to starting school. Make sure you arrive enough time before the starting date so you can have all your living arrangements finalised and be ready to move in. We can also connect you with other students so that you can organise living arrangements with them.

What can I expect during the 5 months that I am studying?
You will be able to gain knowledge through different materials in a classroom setting having discussions with other students about what you are learning. You will also get to spend time in the community amongst the different nationalities that live in the area where you will be living. There will be opportunities to teach English, evangelise, start Bible studies, get churches excited about mission, and make disciples in a marketplace environment. You are required to have 12-15 ministry hour per week. There are 20 modules to study over the 5 months.
How much will rent be?
You can rent a room or a granny flat from www.gumtree.com.au, www.flatmates.com.au, www.flatmate.com or www.homestay.com/australia/sydney which have an average price of AU$150 – $200 per week. Bills are included in some of the listings, and we recommend that you choose accommodation that has bills inclusive to keep costs down. Also, be sure that you have internet access. There are certain zones that we want all students to live in so before committing to accommodation arrangements, we ask that you have it approved by the GFM Sydney leadership.
How much money do I need to raise for the 5 months?
We suggest at least $2500/month for the 5 months. (note: single student costs are quoted here) $1200/month is an estimate for your housing and tuition. The remaining amount is to allow you to pay your bills (mobile phone, transport, etc), buy groceries and personal items as well as have some fun with your team. You may also want to plan for trips home at Easter and Christmas.

Does your price include any level of Missionary Training School?
The price listed includes a GFM certificate at the completion of the school. You can do the US degree option and then pay an extra US$300, US$600, US$900 directly to Covenant Theological Seminary for the Associates, Bachelors, or Masters Bible degree.

Do I need to purchase my own flights?

All non-Australian residents will need to apply for a Working Holiday Visa.
Can I watch movies or TV during my time?
Can I stay in Australia longer than 1 year? (Non-Australian Residents Only)
Yes. It is possible to stay in Australia for a second year if you work in a particular field for at least 88 days in the 1st year of your stay. Click here for an application. (Types of work you can do are listed on application)
Can I bring a vehicle?
Yes! Much of your ministry may be within walking distance of where you live, so you may not need to drive. Sydney is a large city and the mass transit system is efficient. Though, a vehicle will be very helpful for getting around. If you are bringing a vehicle, please ensure you budget enough money for petrol and maintenance.
