In 2000, Global Frontier Missions (GFM) was founded as Grant and Jennifer Haynes served among the 30 unreached people groups of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. Their goal was to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ being preached and disciples made among the 80 villages that had no believers, no Bible, and no churches within two hours of their mountain market town of Tlaxiaco. To fulfill that vision, they hosted short-term mission teams, interns, started an ethnic Bible school for the national believers, developed a missionary training school to equip more labourers, all while spending time in the villages doing evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. The ministry began to grow over the years and the Lord expanded their vision to not only reach the lost in Mexico, but to be used by the Lord to raise up labourers to serve among the remaining 6900 ethnic groups (nations) that are still considered unreached with the Gospel. In 2010, GFM began starting locations in the US that would reach out to internationals from unreached people groups arriving here as well as sending out teams to the ends of the earth to the unreached people groups there.
Today, we currently have locations in Sydney, Australia, South Asia and the United States with over 50 full-time labourers. We hope to expand into several new multi-ethnic cities in Australia and around the world establishing mobilisation, training, and multiplication hubs among the THUMB people (Tribal, Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim, Buddhist). The goal is to raise up people to pray, give, go, welcome, and mobilise others strategically to see the remaining 6900 unreached people groups have access to the Good News of Jesus.
Global Frontier Missions (GFM) is an international, non-denominational Christian missionary organisation. We are a non for profit organisation that was started in Australia in 2016. Our United States not for profit was incorporated in the state of Virginia in the year 2000 and later in the state of Georgia in 2009. Check out the entire history of GFM and our future vision as well as our statement of faith and central values.
Our vision and passion: Global Frontier Missions (GFM) aims to see God’s name glorified among the 2.9 billion people in the world who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ…in our generation! Our burning passion is to see the fulfillment of the Revelation 7:9,10 vision where the apostle John sees people from “every nation, tribe, people and language” together worshiping the Lamb.
Our mission statement:
Global Frontier Missions (GFM) is a movement of Christ-centred communities dedicated to mobilising, training, and multiplying disciples and churches to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the unreached people groups of the earth.
Describing ourselves as a “movement” shows that we want to be more than just a missions organisation. We consider ourselves a spontaneously growing multiplying movement as well. The Kingdom of Heaven that Jesus came to establish sounds more like a movement than it does a religion or centralised institutional structure; the kingdom of God is a worthy cause worth selling everything to obtain and worth laying your life down to be a part of. Everyone in the GFM family is part of this movement: prayer warriors, financial partners, past/current program participants, Facebook fans, like-minded organisational partners, etc. Join the movement!
Being “Christ-centered” is at the core of our mission. Our commitment is to knowing Him and making His Glory known. Christ said that apart from Him, we can do nothing. So, our priority is pursuing and following Christ and out of that relationship and commitment, all of our mission to the nations flows!
“Communities” are what we call our different locations, rather than bases. Community implies people…the body of Christ on mission…rather than a building or a physical location where we have offices. In each location, our team members pray, study the Word, fellowship with one another, and go out in teams to make disciples and disciple-makers…of all nations. We like to have FUN as well! It’s our desire to BE a truly healthy church before planting new churches. As disciples of Jesus, we “do life” together in community.
[ Mobilising ]: We host short-term mission trips, speak at missions seminars, organise conferences, teach Perspectives courses, and get involved in local churches to cast vision for reaching the unreached. We want to empower people and churches to strategically fulfill their role in the Great Commission.
[ Training ]: Going overseas is a major life change for many people in the Western world. There is a significant need for long-term workers to reach the unreached. Through our Missionary Training School, people get a taste firsthand by learning new languages, breaking cross-cultural barriers, and building relationships with internationals…all on Australian soil.
[ Multiplying ]: We want to reach out and engage in disciple making and church planting among the internationals living close to us with the hope of seeing them evangelised and discipled to the point that they can go back and reach their own people. We do this by focusing on immigrants, refugees, and international students living in close proximity to us. Our desire is to plant simple, reproducible churches in units, homes, and in universities. We also want to send out long-term church planting teams to serve among the unreached people groups of the earth.
“Physical and spiritual needs” are mentioned all throughout Scripture as something that God commands His people to be involved with. To focus exclusively on the physical or exclusively on the spiritual would be to have an incomplete ministry. We focus on spiritual needs by building relationships with people, sharing the Gospel, baptising and discipling new converts, and helping plant churches. We focus on physical needs by providing services that are useful to internationals such as shuttling them from the airport, helping them get settled, teaching them English, job placement, providing low-cost meals, medical missions, etc. We are dedicated to holistic ministry among the nations.
