All over the world, unreached people groups are coming to us. They are moving into our cities, building houses of worship, living in our neighbourhoods, and going to our schools. How should we react to this?
Global Frontier Missions strongly believes that our reaction should be one of welcome and celebration. Most of these people have come to us as immigrants, international students or refugees and have never had the chance to hear the Good News of Jesus! But how do you begin to talk to them about Jesus? Do you even know what they believe?
During our Backyard Mission, we will take you around the city to visit a mosque, a Hindu temple, and/or a Buddhist temple. We will also visit different Sydney suburbs where we want to see followers of Jesus reaching out to internationals in a variety of ways. Participating in one of our trips would be a great way to explore how you or your church may be able to get involved in the ministry long term.
This is an intercession and learning trip and not a time for evangelism or debate. It’s a chance to learn to pray more effectively and discover differences with other cultures so that you will be able to share the Good News more effectively with people from other faiths. The entire mission is designed to increase your ability to pray for and reach out to the nations here in Sydney.
In the Bible, we read about Nehemiah who listens to the people to hear their needs. As he hears about the walls in Jerusalem that have been destroyed, he weeps and prays over the situation and then begins thinking about how he can do something about it. Our Backyard Missions are a chance to explore, listen, see needs, pray for our communities, and learn about next steps of how to get involved with internationals in our own backyard as God brings the nations to us.
Our Backyard Mission day trips are ideal for leaders from churches and Christian organisations that are thinking about doing a short term missions trip or getting more involved in cross-cultural missions. These trips are also great for a small group, missions committee, or church wanting to learn how they can be more missional by reaching out to the foreigners living close to them.
Backyard Mission day trips cost $99/person and include an Ethiopian coffee ceremony and a temple or mosque tour. Please contact us for more information and to book your tour. Backyard Missions are offered in Sydney, Australia.
