GFM believes the purpose for short-term opportunities is to MOBILISE the body of Christ to reach the nations, both as a local church and individually. We accomplish this by strategically combining cross-cultural TRAINING and HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE with international communities. We challenge participants to MULTIPLY the message by sharing it with others, therefore being a catalyst for change in their fields of influence.
We have been told over and over again that our cross-cultural short-term mission trips have changed the trajectory of people’s lives, forever impacted the way they read their Bibles, and transformed their walks with Jesus Christ. They are definitely NOT just a way to get a temporary “spiritual high” or enjoy some “Christian tourism” with friends from church. These mission trips are a great opportunity for groups and churches that want to serve cross-culturally and share the love of Jesus Christ with unreached people groups.
One thing that sets our cross-cultural short term missions trips apart is that we include a strong teaching element throughout the program. We train your group in topics including cultural sensitivity, how short-term missions fits into the long-term vision, evangelism and discipleship, worldview and sharing with other religions, as well as the biblical basis of missions and state of the world. This training, coupled with hands-on ministry experience, is a powerful combination that often generates long-term changes in the lives of short-term mission participants. We challenge all participants to pray, give, go, welcome, mobilise others, and make disciples as a Great Commission lifestyle rather than viewing these short term mission trips as an experience to check off the list.
The outreach portion of the trip may include kids ministry, slum visits, community service projects, and learning about the long-term work of existing ministries working in different contexts. Our hope is to see people from around the world to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, decide to follow Him, and get discipled so that they can reach more of their own people.

We are proud members of the Standards Of Excellence in Short Term Mission which guarantees that our short term missions programs have been evaluated by other missions organisations and have met the seven standards of excellence in short term mission which are: God-centred, empowering partnerships, mutual design, comprehensive administration, qualified leadership, appropriate training, and thorough follow-up. The goal for our short-term mission trips is to give you a life changing experience while also helping rather than hurting the local people you are coming to serve!
We offer an all-inclusive cross-cultural short term missions experience where we take care of all of the logistics such as food, housing, ministry set-up, and training before, during, and after the trip so that you can come, learn, and serve. Most of the teams that come to minister with us end up returning to work with us again and several participants have ended up coming back to join us for internships, missionary training school, or long-term involvement because they have been so impacted by the experience. We love building long-term relationships and partnerships with local churches!
Click here to learn more about our cross-cultural short term missions trips for youth, university students, adults, and families. Because we want these trips to impact entire church bodies, we ask that youth groups that want to join us have a 1:2 adult (over 18) to youth ratio. Our short term missions trips are a perfect opportunity for professionals or families that otherwise have a hard time traveling far distances or getting off of school/work to serve.
We are now offering short term missions trips among unreached people groups in Sydney, Australia. Find out about our local Sydney Backyard Missions. As God provides more labourers in the future, we hope to add new GFM locations. Learn more about our philosophy of short term missions.
