Global Frontier Missions began as a team of church planters working to make disciples of unreached peoples. Although we excel in mobilising Christians to get involved in missions and training future missionaries, at our heart we remain committed to disciple making and planting reproducible, ethnic churches. It is common to think of Australia as a launching pad or even a training ground for missions. However, we invite you to see Australia as an actual harvest field, with many unreached people groups, some remain unengaged, lacking ready access to the gospel, in our own backyard.
Our strategy is to lead immigrants, refugees, and international students to follow Jesus, disciple them, and launch them out as missionaries. These ethnic disciples will then lead others in their community to Christ, raise up leaders, and plant churches as they run with the vision to see a movement of multiplied disciples and churches among their own and other people groups. The term “church planting” is being used less and less in the missions world because Jesus’ command was to “make disciples”, not plant churches. But for the sake of simplicity and not getting into semantics we consider church planting the whole process of seeing people come to follow Jesus, baptising them, gathering the disciples together as the body of Christ, seeing leaders developed that can equip the flock, and seeing that church, as a family on mission, reaching out to others.
Our ultimate goal is to facilitate church planting movements right here in Australia among the unreached and to partner with them to send out church planting teams to their own countries in the 10/40 window to make disciples of the unreached people groups there. Consider joining us as we make disciples of all nations. We are looking for church planters to join an existing team or even to launch new teams. We are also on the lookout for tentmakers that want to continue working a normal job while living incarnationally and making disciples among the unreached and unengaged in our own backyard.
If you hang around Global Frontier Missions very long, you will definitely see how disciple making is one of our central values that is lived out among all of our staff and students. You will often hear us quote the statistic that if we started with just one Christian and that person made one disciple and then the following year they each went out to make one disciple and continued that pattern, that the whole world would have access to the gospel in just one generation! Do you want to be that generation? Join with us!
